Originating in the town of Bulawayo, the Ezimnyama Dance Company aims to promote and preserve the popular traditions of Zimbabwe. In this country in the south of the African continent, dance is a means of entertainment and an expression of "joy of living". The rhythm is set by the mafaro, the country's emblematic drum. Zimbabwe's history has been marked by the arrival of peoples such as the Bochimans, Swahili merchants, the Portuguese and the Zulus from South Africa. The country's independence was proclaimed in 1965. Before the RFI, the Ezimnyama Dance Company will be taking part in the CIME (Célébrations Interculturelles de la Montagne à Evolène).
